My name is Jake Mullen. As a fourth year industrial design student at Virginia Tech, I am passionate about user-centered design with interdisciplinary collaboration. In 2020 I was accepted into Virginia Tech Industrial Design and was selected to participate in the Calhoun Honors Discovery Program. CHDP allowed me to practice and appreciate working in teams to solve real world problems for industry partners including Boeing, Caterpillar, and General Electric. This dovetailed with my ID major, providing a unique and rigorous learning experience.

My enthusiasm to build, design, and create was nurtured when I was 15 with my first big project; converting a school bus into a tiny home. Outside of design, I spend my time cooking, baking bread, beekeeping, and spending time outdoors.
